What is Low Level Laser Therapy?
Also referred to as “Cold Laser Therapy”, Low Level Laser Therapy is an effective treatment against chronic and acute injuries. Arthritis pain, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia pain, as well as back, neck, and knee pain are just some of conditions that can be treated with this type of therapy.

During a treatment session, a small, handheld device is placed directly over the injured area and a dosage of laser is emitted to enhance the tissue’s healing process. The laser then helps to reduce inflammation and pain, along with accelerating the healing process. The goal of this therapy is to trigger the body’s own healing processes, which may have slowed due to the amount of damage in the tissue or due to the chronic state of an injury. By enhancing the body’s healing mechanisms, laser therapy promotes healing in a safe, natural, and effective way. The light emitted from the laser penetrates the body’s tissue and stimulates the mitochondria in both healthy and damaged cells to produce additional ATP, the energy needed within a cell to repair and revitalize cells.
Low level laser therapy is a very safe treatment strategy since there is no risk of tissue damage. The laser operates within a specific wavelength range that is non-thermal, meaning that there is no risk of burning, which is a hazard with other class 4 lasers. A wide range of studies conducted by medical professionals from across the globe have shown that the class 3 low level laser, like the one used by Pacific Health and Sports Therapy, is both safe and effective.
