About Me

Barbara was a long time member of the Slovak national team competed internationally in three different artistic sports. She was a finalist and medalist in various international competitions most notably: 1993 World University Games in Buffalo, the 1995 World Cup in Paris, the 1996 World Championships in Bratislava, the 1997 World Championship in Perth and the 1997 World Games in Lahti. Barbara was also a member of the prep team for the 1988 Seoul Olympics and showcasing variety of her skills on the 1995 and 1999 World Gymnaestradas in Berlin and Gothenburg.

While engaging at the elite level sporting activities, she obtained her Master’s degree in Physical Education and Sport and a Doctorate in the field of Kinanthropology – Sports Biomechanics from Comenius University in Slovakia.

During her teaching and research internship, she also coached national level gymnasts in Iceland. After moving to Canada she obtained her NCCP Level 3 in Artistic Gymnastics, Personal training, and Stott Pilates certifications and facilitated the NCCP coaching courses for Gymnastics Canada in BC.

Barbara earned her Registered Massage Therapy Diploma from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy and she continuously strives to use all her skills and experiences in helping athletes and non-athletes to achieve their goals.

Barbara is experienced in providing the following range of massage therapies: Myofascial, GTO, and Trigger Point Release, Joint Play and Mobilization, Muscle Approximation and Positional Release, Muscle Energy, Musculotendinous Attachment Release, Neuromuscular, Swedish and Sports Massage.

She has provided massage therapy to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, as well as patients at the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic in New Westminster, and the BC Women’s Hospital & Health Center.

She is also skilled in providing weight and personal training, instructing Pilates classes, coaching artistic gymnastics, ballet and dance.
