Becoming a Registered Massage Therapist was strongly influenced by my own experiences with chronic pain. Massage therapy was an important and effective tool that helped me manage, improve, and even help me recover from the pain I was suffering. This appreciation was furthered with my education and subsequent experience working with those with acute and chronic injuries or illnesses.
In my practice I approach each person individually, considering the whole musculoskeletal system. I use a variety techniques which include but are not limited to myofascial release, trigger point therapy, stretching and strengthening techniques, joint mobilizations, and of course Swedish massage. I complement my treatments by prescribing therapeutic exercises and appropriate home care for continued rehabilitation and further self-care.
Outside of my practice you may see me hiking, snowshoeing or skiing in our local mountains or you may run into me in the city at a dance class, practicing yoga or going for a bike ride around Stanley park.
